Event Recap: Delta Zeta’s Turtles and Ties

Lizzie McCulla, an alumna of Deta Zeta and a Graphic Design student at LSU, designed the flyer for the event.

On Monday, September 25, the Delta Zeta chapter at LSU hosted a brand new philanthropic fundraising event called Turtles and Ties. This event was the first of its kind at LSU and it turned out to be a huge success, raising over $1,000 for Delta Zeta's local and national philanthropies.

At this event, LSU sorority women were invited to the Delta Zeta house to choose and create their own elastic hair ties. For $3 guests could select their two favorite styles of elastic.

Delta Zeta provided a wide variety of elastics to choose from, including ones with every sorority’s letters and fun prints in coordinating colors.

I was so happy to have my best friend Alex, who is a Phi Mu at LSU, come to DZ for our event

Delta Zeta members, Peyton and Brittany, picked out their favorite elastics at Turtles and Ties

We had elastic with each sorority's letters, as well as one print and one solid color elastic in coordinating colors. Guests could choose two elastic ties for $3.

The elastics were arranged throughout the room by sorority print and coordinating color. Signs with each sorority’s name helped indicate where the sorority print elastics were located.

At the event, there was also a photo booth with props along with lemonade and refreshments for the guests to enjoy.

The event was a huge success! College women from every sorority at LSU came by to create hair ties and to have their name entered into the drawing for door prizes from popular brands like Kendra Scott, Woolly Threads, The Royal Standard, and Courtland’s Collection.

The fundraiser raised over $1,000 for Delta Zeta’s philanthropies. Locally, the Delta Zeta chapter at LSU serves St. Lillian Academy, The Emerge Center, and Alzheimer’s Services of the Capital Area. Nationally Delta Zeta serves The Starkey Hearing Foundation and The Painted Turtle Camp.

I could not have been more proud of how successful this event turned out to be. My committee and I worked extremely hard to create a brand new philanthropic fundraising event for Delta Zeta, and it exceeded our expectations.

For this event, I worked with Sabrina, who sells her products through her Etsy shop, Lace and Trims. She was incredible to work with and extremely helpful. I highly recommend her and her shop!
